From Dancing on Stage to Dancing through Life…

Brigitte started her journey as a professional dancer in 1997 and performed & toured with several companies in the US, Canada, and Europe. Her choreography has been performed in NYC, Spain, and Israel. She received her BFA in Dance from Alvin Ailey/ Fordham University in 2003. Brigitte felt drawn to share her love of dance as a form of expression. She became certified as a teaching artist in the Martha Graham technique. She taught in NYC Public Schools & in 2005, she headed a movement project "Dancers in Exile." This project was primarily for young girls and cloistered women in Al Azzeh Refugee Camp in the West Bank. Brigitte was interviewed on UN radio about the "Dancers in Exile" project for international women’s day 2006. Her dedication to dance and movement science led her to become a health & wellness professional.

In 1995, Brigitte began to train in Pilates and has studied with first and second generation Pilates Elders. She was certified by the Kane School of Core Integration and Half Moon Pilates. She received her first (of several) Pre/Postnatal training and fell in love with this special population moving through their own transition in life.

She has worked at health clubs, Pilates studios, spas, physical therapy offices, hospitals, and taught Pilates at the NY Stock Exchange for several years. Brigitte's approach is most inspired by Pilates Elder, Mary Bowen who has been a great mentor of both movement and the mind. Brigitte owns Rooted Boston, a Pilates studio that focuses on prenatal, postnatal, and post-rehabilitative clientele. She often works with clients who have pelvic and abdominal issues (such as diastasis recti). Brigitte holds several additional certificates in Prenatal, Postnatal, Pelvic Floor, and Diastasis recti.

As a young child in grade school Brigitte remembers practicing her first Surya Namaskar. She later deepened her yoga practice as a teen. After many years of self exploration and study Brigitte became Certified in Integral Yoga Hatha, Integral Prenatal Yoga, Postnatal Yoga, and Yoga for Labor & Delivery. She received an additional restorative based certification with Cheri Clampett and Arturo Peal in 2010. Brigitte is certified in Thai Yoga Massage through the Lotus Palm School and studied Prenatal Thai Yoga Massage with Jyothi Watanabe. Brigitte studied Yin Yoga at Cyndi Lee's Om Yoga Center and received certification from Corina Benner in 2011. She is a ERYT 200, RPYT, & YACEP through Yoga Alliance. Brigitte developed the Rooted Prenatal Yoga School in 2018 and runs 85 hour prenatal certifications and workshops in Boston, NYC, and across the US.

Brigitte loves working with a variety of people and finding the most suitable way to help each person reach their individual goals. She has trained professional dancers, A-List celebrities, athletes, doctors, prenatal & postpartum women, teens & elders. Her extensive experience with Prenatal, Postnatal, & Post-Rehabilitation means that she can accommodate and tailor your session to meet your body where you are at and assist you in reaching your goals. Movement is to be enjoyed and experienced by everyone!                                                                                   Photo above by Brooklyn Birth Arts

Witnessing the dance of birth…

Brigitte started on the path to become a doula in 2010 after taking a natural childbirth course with Ina May Gaskin (of Spiritual Midwifery). Debra Pascali Bonaro (of Orgasmic Birth) was her DONA trainer. Brigitte was certified through DONA International, CD(DONA) and was a member of the NYC Doula Collective since 2011. As a doula, Brigitte has worked in NYC & Boston hospitals, homes, and has attended birth center births.

Working with clients in labor, birth, and their early weeks and months as new parents is both a rewarding career and a calling that links generations together in an age old sacred bond. It is her utmost goal to encourage clients to find confidence in their ability to parent and make their own choices during this transitional time in their lives.

Brigitte became a Certified Educator of Infant Massage (CEIM) in 2012 and a Certified Lactation Counselor, (CLC) in 2014. She enjoys sharing these tools with her clients as they adjust to their role as new parents. In 2012, she visited the Farm in Tennessee to receive training in Basic Midwifery with Ina May Gaskin. Brigitte has completed continuing education courses on: Breastfeeding for Doulas, Intermediate Midwifery Skills, TENS for Labor & Delivery with Pelvic Floor Specialist, Isa Herrera, MSPT (author of Ending Female Pain), Supporting VBACs, Aromatherapy, Herbs & Homeopathy for Labor, Postpartum Mood & Anxiety Disorders, Breastfeeding & Perinatal Emotional Complications, Holding Space for Pregnancy Loss. Her greatest teachers continue to be the women and babies that she has been lucky to work with at such a special time in their family's lives.

While studying movement and life Brigitte fell in love with herbalism. She was an apprentice in the Spiritual Herbalism course at Sacred Vibes Apothecary under master herbalist Karen Rose for over three years. She developed her own line of herbal products to care for birthing clients and friends in Brooklyn, called Rooted Rituals.
